My Annual Vacation

According to the Canon Law of the Catholic Church, each priest has right to go on vacation once a year for one month. For the “new” priests, this one moth annual vacation becomes always shorter and shorter. For pastoral reason my only chance was this year to grab less than 2 weeks from the parish schedule, in order to go on vacation from July 18th – July 29th.

Since I have relatives and in Detroit (MI), I headed to Detroit this summer also. The weather was so nice! We have witnessed 2 times a strong thunder storms, one of them was on Sunday July the 24th -before my 12:00 P.M. mass- which caused of power black out for 5000 houses in Michigan for few hours! But I was not scared anyway even if the sky was all black!

Before going to Fr. Basil’s cousin wedding party, we were suggested to spend some time in bowling room.
It was the first time for some of us, but we enjoyed so much, even if the balls was so so heavy..

We were together with:
Fr. Shaleeta (Parish priest of St. Joseph - Troy),
Fr. Sami (Rector of Baghdad’s Seminary),
Fr. Rayan (studying in Rome),
Fr. Basil (Vice president of Baghdad’s seminary),
Fr. Bassim Shoni (Coming from new jersey – Syrin Catholic priest),
and ME.

Chicago The Magnificent

After saying good bye to our beloved friend Fr. Basilio, before his leaving to Baghdad, I left Detroit with my cousin’s family to visit Chicago fore the first time in my life.
I spent in Chicago less than 24 hours!
It was really magnificent, and now I miss seeing Chicago’s high buildings!
People of Chicago were all running, playing volleyball, many other sports on the shore of Lake Michigan.
I wish I stayed there for more time, next year maybe...
